Gratefulness

So…which kind of pie is your favorite?

is anybody looking?

Jack's face *almost* made it all the way to the pie. Luckily we just ended up with a few finger pokes.

The boys definitely opted for chocolate.  It’s hard to say for me, but pecan just about edges ahead of the rest.  Although Erick hit a home run with the apple, and yesterday I almost put myself in a sugar coma eating the rest of it.  It was so. good.  All in all I just rotated through the 4 for the last few days!

I, for the most part, had an “unplugged”, lovely week with the family, and I’m already looking forward to Christmas break when Erick has 2 weeks off.  Yipee!  It’s been so good to have Daddy and Papa off from work; we’ve both been able to knock out quite a few projects at home.

I love Thanksgiving because of what it symbolizes, but lately I’ve been living day to day in “Thanksgiving” mode anyway.  I’m so incredibly grateful for everything God has blessed us with.  Not only the good…but the bad and the ugly too!  There is a reason for everything-I truly believe that.  Oddball stuff that has come my way has only made me into the person that I am, and need to be.

(But is there a good reason why my children are currently raising ruckus in their bedroom while they should be napping?  For the 3rd afternoon in a row? Will something good actually come out of this?  Maybe I better eat my words! :-) )

I hope you all had a wonderful week as well!

When the momma is away, the boys will play

I was in the dining room, the boys were on the porch. With oatmeal. This is just a tiny snapshot. It required lots of vacuuming. :)

Who is the messmaker?

We had ice cream yesterday.  With sprinkles.  And here is an increasingly irritated youngster whose mother was snapping away at the after-effects.

aww come on mom.

aww come on mom.

mom....

mom....

are we done now? please?

are we done now? please?

And here is his older brother…even eating ice cream while walking home, that little spot in the corner of his mouth is the only collateral damage.  I think he was this clean even as a baby.

I’ll take them both though, mess or no!

Quick Clip

Awhile ago I mentioned that Jack would call his sandwiches peepee butter and helly.   I just found that I had taken a video of it a few months ago.  It’s pretty cute (I think so, ’cause he’s my kid).  :)   And just for remembrances sake, Ry and Jack were running circles around the house the other night, when Ry tripped and fell.  He was dazed for a moment, and when I asked if he was alright, he thought for a minute and said “Yep!  I’m run-able again!”  (Now chips are crunch-able, etc, etc.  I personally think he’s pretty hug-able.)

Arrgggghhhh, Matey

Jack has this new facial expression, which we have deemed the “pirate face”.

So Erick taught him to say “Arrggghhh, Matey”

“Swab the poop deck”

and “Walk the Plank!”

In comes Jack  to our bedroom yesterday morning, climbs right on top of me, makes “the face”, and says…

“Arrggghhhh…walk the poopy plank!”

Ha!  What a comedian.

(I’ve been a bad blogger)

I wish posts could magically appear straight from my thoughts to the computer.  I think up posts all of the time-just don’t have the time to get them posted!  That, and it’s been so beautiful outside that we are staying out there as much as possible.   We’ve also had some good times recently, so I’ll be trying to get them down here, little by little, during the remainder of the week.

Drat!  I can’t find my camera cord!  No pics today, arg.

Oh, wait!  I do have a few on my computer.  Take a look at these crazy kids.  I love this job.

Last Saturday mom and dad took the boys, which was really nice-I mentioned on facebook (are you on facebook?  Gah!  I just found my best friend from pre-school, who I haven’t seen since pre-school…too cool, huh?)  anyway, to get back to the subject, on Friday I timed it and heard “Hey Mommy!” Sixty one times in 15 minutes.  LOL.  I love hearing it, but it can be a bit draining every once in awhile.  Mom and dad volunteered to take the boys Friday night and Saturday, which was really great for Erick and I.  Saturday night we went to a Meredith Andrews concert; absolutely lovely.

Oh!  If ya’ll wouldn’t mind sending your prayers their way, my fantastically talented brother just became a “product” of the economy and was let go from his job on Monday.  A bit unnerving for that to happen these days, but I’m so proud of he and my sis-in-law.  They have great attitudes about the whole thing, but I know that the emotions will probably be up and down quite a bit until God brings a new job along.

Well, my momma is on the way this morning and we are going to paint my “art” room.  Then head out for a little road trip to enjoy the sunshine-so I need to get to it!  I’ll be back soon…

Bowling

This was one part of our vacation last week; I’m thinking it will become a tradition-the boys love it!

***

Before I forget (have to get this done, just cause he’s such a stinker…)

After we put the boys to bed last night, this is what ensues:

“Mommy!!!!”

“Yes, Jack?”

“I hurt”

“Ok, I’ll kiss ONE boo boo and then you must go to bed” (I kiss the made-up boo boo)

“Mommy!!!  I hick!

“What?”

“I hick!  I hick!”

“What?”

“I HICK! I COUGH!”  (Fake coughing ensues)

“Oh, you are NOT sick.  Now Go To Sleep”.

Some nights, these are the delay-going-to-bed battles!  But boy do they make me laugh.  :)

Crazy Mainers

It’s true…Mainers are an interesting group of people.  This is one example of why.

First day of spring, Gifford’s Ice Cream (locally made, totally delicious) gives out free ice cream cones during a particular time of day.  This year it was 6-9pm, so Erick and I thought the boys might enjoy the trip into the big city.  However, after getting there, and having supper, and shopping around a bit, in the FREEZING weather, we weren’t in the mood (hello, freezing?) but the boys were!  They weren’t going to give it up, no sir!  So onto Giffords we go, around 7:30 pm, only to find absolute masses of people standing in line.  Masses!  And Giffords is not the walk inside and sit down type of joint-it’s the walk up to the window, grab and go.  Were we willing to stand in those lines?  Um….no.  (We aren’t that desperate to save a couple of bucks, good grief!)  So we decide to shoot down the road to Dairy Queen; obviously multitudes of other parents had the same idea because it was so packed, the line of cars was out into the street.  Strike out number 2.  Fortunately, the thought occurred to us to visit What’s the Scoop?…a delightful cold-stone-creamery kind of place that is amazing, and I guess we were lucky because there was only one other family there that evening.  And it was delicious.  Chocolate Fudge with reeces cups and m&ms.  Um, yes.  Score!  3 bucks=happiness in a warm cafe!

Well, I’m over at mom and dad’s right now and just found this picture-it’s typical Jack.  The look on his face is “Not me!  I didn’t do that!”  Fortunately he didn’t really do anything; the boys were just goofing off and Ry is on the floor because he wanted to be.  :)

Sugar High

Caught in the Act…can you believe this child?  Yes, that is syrup.  And yes, he is drinking it.  I’m thinking we are in for a long night…

Happy Friday!

Thought I’d leave you with a funny; of course I think it’s funny because it’s my kid. :)   He doesn’t completely have the counting thing down yet, but I don’t care to correct him just yet!

Happy Friday!
