This and That

Yesterday when Ryan woke up, my mom told him that Daddy and Papa would be at home because of the weather, and that we would make waffles for fun. Ryan replies (with nary a breath inbetween):

“Maybe Papa will make me a really really really really big waffle and so I’ll need a really really really really big blog of syrup but then it will run out so we’ll have to go to the store. But not the little store, the big store. I want to go to Walmart and go through the big doors on my own. Nonnie? Can I drive myself?”

He is such a chatterbox lately!

…………………

I also wanted to share with you my momentous little moment. Yesterday I listed a few items to my new store, and literally, within minutes, I made a sale. Not just fabric, which is so awesome to sale, but a little painting. I think I grinned the rest of the day. Nothing like knowing that someone out there likes what you do! So goodbye, funky mod frond. I’ll miss you, and I bid you well as you travel across the states. You’ve been good to me!

A Thousand Chocolate Chips

Just have to jot these down before I forget! Ry was full of funny stuff yesterday and I’m already struggling to remember. So here goes:

One of my favorite snacks is a spoonful of peanut butter with a sprinkling of dark chocolate chips. Ry has a spoonful with me occasionally, but most of the time I just give him one chocolate chip on top. Yesterday I was feeling generous and gave him three. He looked at the spoon and exclaimed “That’s like a thousand chocolate chips!”

Sitting on the kitchen floor with an apple slice; “I have an idea! I will have a picnic by myself!”

“I’m a kid so I can go ’round and ’round in circles!”

“Momma, can I go to Grammy’s today?” (Nope, says I). “Ok. I will drive myself to Grammy’s house in momma and daddy’s car, and you can chase me in Nonnie and Papa’s car”.

……………………………………………………………………………………….

Grandma M took both boys today, so mom and I dropped dad off at work and took off to Bangor in order to stave off the stir-crazies. Our day involved a Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla coffee, a Cinammon Dolce Latte at Starbucks, and a plain ol’ Seattle’s Best at Borders. Hehe. I’m fully dehydrated so I’m trying to catch up with my water consumption this evening. (Keep in mind each stop was only one coffee shared between the two of us-we aren’t that addicted). We window shopped quite a bit and enjoyed a fun girlie day together. I’m so glad we decided to get out, because another storm is upon us meaning we’ll probably be socked in for a few days again. Highly likely that the guys will have another snow day tomorrow, leading me to believe that they might go to school clear through summer break…

Well, time to hit the hay. I have a good book to delve into, and ya know there isn’t much better than ending the day in a warm bed with a good read!

He misseth not a thing

…especially when related to chocolate.

Yesterday, mom asked me what type of birthday cake I would like to have. Ry chimes in before I can answer and says “Chocolate Cake! I like chocolate cake-it is good for me! It makes me shoot right up!”

Friday evening, before the pizza was ready to come out of the oven, mom and I snuck a munchkin from the box that Erick brought home. We thought we were being very stealth about the whole thing, but Ryan must of noticed something because he galloped over and asked “What are you girls eating?!”

Hehe. He is so like his mom when it comes to food. Speaking of…

I’ve decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day all week. Last Friday, Erick and I figured a good gift to each other would be a box of Finest Kind chocolates from Maine Gathering in Camden. Milk Chocolate Caramels for him, Mudpies for me. I ordered and they came in yesterday. Not good, seeing as though the big day is on Thursday. Erick kindly convinced me I could go ahead and get a jump start, so we are (as of today) 4 chocolates down. 9 to go, so I figure I can make them last all week if I assert a little willpower. And (*Sigh*) I suppose I’ll let my hubby in on a few. ;-)

College-Bound

While in line at Shop and Save yesterday, I whispered to Ryan that we would have pizza for lunch. He bellowed out “Cheese Pizza makes me Happy!!!!!” This obviously brought a few laughs from the cashiers and baggers, and they decided to engage him in conversation, which ended with Ryan announcing that he wanted to go to college and study music. (?!?!?) I love it when he surprises me like that!

Ryan hardly uttered a word until after his 2nd birthday, so to have my newly-turned 3 year old popping out with things that I never thought I would hear just amazes me.

This morning, he woke up before I did and popped Cars (the movie) into the dvd player. Most mornings occasionally I like to watch The Early Show, so when I pried myself from under the covers and wandered into the living room, Ryan said “No mama! Go back to bed!” (I’d be delighted to, Ryan!) This child could probably spend a day by himself and fare just fine. (Not that I’d ever leave him alone, mind you.)

We checked out Peter Pan from the library, and when Nonnie (aka grandma) asked Ryan if he would like to watch it, he replied “No! The pine trees are scary!” She mentioned that she was disappointed that they would make movies like that scary to little kids, in which he stated “I know! It’s just NOT right!”

Finally (for this post) on Saturday Ry was having a great time playing with blocks when Erick and I let him know we’d be going to Bangor. “No! I want to stay here myself!” Nonnie to Ry: “Ry, you should get out and enjoy the world!” “Nope”, says Ry, “I want to enjoy the house right now”.

Oh yes. How could I forget?

I am all about my dislikes today. I couldn’t come up with any during my last post…but I’ve got one in particular for you now!

Static cling.

The bane of my current existence! I could Very Well do without static cling. It’s so cold and dry that the Downy Ball isn’t touching it. Not a dent. Well, maybe a little one, but it’s still there, still taunting me with its crackles and sparks. It’s the kind of cling where you pull out one piece of clothing from the dryer and everything else comes along with it! It did give us a little humorous break the other day, though. We were driving home and the boys were in the backseat, swinging their heads from side to side in their car seats, making their hair stand on end. They would look at each other and crack up. Too cute! (But I still don’t like it. No way.)

………………………………………

On an unrelated subject (completely!) I have to write down a few of Ry’s sayings before they slip away.

Nonnie: “Ryan, did you get that cookie yourself, or did momma give it to you?”

Ryan: “Nonnie, momma gave it to me. Think about it.”

Ryan in the kitchen, burning off his energy by zooming through the house: “Hey everybody in the living room! I COME for you!”

Nonnie: “Ryan, your hair is so pretty!”

Ryan: “Ryan is NOT pretty. Momma is pretty!”

All music to a mom’s ears. I need a notepad at-the-ready to copy them all down.

Oh, I might as well write these down also…his pronunciations of a few words that I never want to forget.

Helicopter=heli-cot-oper.

Spoon=foo-soon.

Ummm…see? There are about 10 others. I wish my brain worked as it did pre-children.
